This image is entitled the Ichthus. The Ichthus represents The first appearances of the ichthys in christian art and literature date to the 2nd century AD. The symbol's use among Christians had become popular by the late 2nd century, and its use spread widely in the 3rd and 4th centuries. In Christian history the ichthus symbol was considered sacred and Christians used it to recognise churches and other believers through this symbol because they were at the time being persecuted by the Romans. The Ichthus symbol is also a reference to the Eucharist. The Ichthus is now recognised world wide as a mark of recognition as a believer. My version of the Ichthus is represents is more like a psychedelic fish rather than the traditional arch like structure. It is currently available on a variety of products sold on my Redbubble store.
